One day Yasmine Davis (co founder) and her mother were watching Oprah Winfrey’s shows on the growing number of homeless children. Yasmine then decided she wanted to make birthdays special for children whose parents couldn't afford presents and birthday parties. “I want them to feel good about themselves and just because they’re not able to celebrate their birthday they shouldn’t feel bad or that they’re less than anyone else,” Yasmine said. Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. Make A Birthday Wish emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. Established in 2009, we’re an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support.
